Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel

GS6A3321

This wheat beer comes from the Erdinger brewery located at Erding in Bayern.

Erdinger have been making beer here since 1886, the brewery was established and later in 1930 it is bought by a malt factory, F.W. Otto. In 1935, the managing director Franz Brombach is offered to buy the brewery. Since then the brewery became very popular and it a widely exported weissbier. The brewery is still owned by the Brombach family today.

I bought this 5,3% 500 ml bottle in Vinens Verden in Odense, Denmark at the price of 4 Euro..

The colour is dark brown and unfiltered..

The head is large, coloured from the dark beer and it settles slowly.

The aroma comes off as expected from a dark beer, some caramel that is stronger than the weak fruit.

Good CO2, more caramel to the taste than fruit and some hint of flowers to it, rock candy after taste with a lack of fruit.

Overall rating is 70 / 100

Fanø Imperial Lynghvede

GS6A3099

Fanø brewery is located on the small island Fanø just outside of Esbjerg, Denmark. The brewery was founded in 2006 from 3500 people putting money together to open a brewery on the island, at this time there is about 150 small breweries in Denmark and they have to close the brewery down in December 2008, competition was too hard.

The brewery was bought by an investment company in 2009, a different tactic and a lot of hard to work to sell the beer local have made the brewery sustainable in business.

I bought this strong Erica wheat beer at Hjerting Hotel in Hjerting, some 10 kilometers north of Esbjerg, Denmark at the price of 4,5 Euro for a 330ml bottle at 10,2%.

There is a heavy sediment, so take care when pouring.

The colour is a lovely yellow with orange to it and unfiltered hazy.

There is no head but a little at the sides.

Sweet overdose aroma with a hint of honey and a strong alcohol.

Heavy. Like glue. Hides is high alcohol percentage very well, reminds me of mead beer. This was really over the top and too much for me, could not finish the beer.

I bought this Erica wheat beer at Hjerting Hotel in Hjerting, some 10 kilometers north of Esbjerg, Denmark at the price of 4,5 Euro for a 500ml bottle at 5%.

The colour is yellow and unfiltered hazy.

A small white head that settles fast to almost nothing.

Fruity aroma with a hint of honey and Erica.

Low CO2, weak sweet fruit, easy to drink, some hint of Erica and honey. This wheat beer tries to add some local and different to the wheat genre with the added honey and Erica, but the match is not there for me.

Indslev bryggeri – Mørk hvede

GS6A2882Indslev brewery was established in 1897 by Frederik Christian Rasmussen. At some point the brewery was closed down, but in 2005 restored to former glory with brand new production equipment. The re-opening was made possible by Anders Busse Rasmussen, grand grand nephew of Frederik Christian Rasmussen.

The head is medium sized, consists of fine bubbles, coloured from the dark beer.

The colour is a good looking brown with some orange notes to it.

The aroma is a sweet fruit and with a freshness over it.

A bubbly sensation with a lovely fruit taste. Good sweetness in the fruit and a pleasant after taste.

Munkebo mikrobryg – Gyldenkam

GS6A2836

Munkebo mikrobryg is a micro brewery with a capacity of 13.5 hectolitre. Located in Munkebo, Denmark and was founded in 2013.

I bought this weissbier with pale ale hops added for flavor as it says, in a local wine shop in Odense, Denmark at the price of 6 Euro for a 500 ml bottle at 5,2%.

Beautiful yellow colour with a orange glow to the unfiltered beer.

The head is medium sized, thick fine foam and it stays while drinking the beer.

A sweet floral aroma with a light hops to it.

Low CO2, dominated by the flowers in the taste and the hops gives a light bitterness.

Mixing pale ale hops into a weissbier resembles for a wit beer in my taste.
