Carlberg brewery was founded in 1847 by J. C. Jacobsen, located in Copenhagen, Denmark. The first export of beer barrels was in 1868 due to the high quality of the beer. In 1875 the Carlsberg laboratory was founded and in 1883 it succeeded to grow a clean beer yeast and avoid uncontrollable fermentation in the beer. To this day this yeast is still used all over the world for pilsner brewing.

J. C. Jacobsens son, Carl Jacobsen, rented himself into brewery buildings owned by his father in 1871. They never could agree on the quality of the brew where the son wanted to brew faster to meet demands. J. C. Jacobsen kicked his son out of the lease in 1880 and Carl Jacobsen built the brewery Ny Carlsberg next to the other breweries. The two breweries was first fusioned 19 years after the fathers death.

Carlberg bought Wiibroe brewery in 1964, Tuborg in 1970, Hannen-Brauerei in 1988, a fusion with Tetley in 1992 and in 2000 they took over Feldschlösschen.

From 2008 there is no longer brewed beer in Copenhagen, except on the small brewery called Jacobsen where special beer of higher quality is made.

Carlsberg is among the 4th largest brewery corporations in the world.

Memminger Brauerei comes from Ulmer in Bayern, Germany and dates back to 1897. It has a long history of different owners, names, joint ventures and it ends up as a privately owned brewery in 2003.

The first mentions of this brewery is the Stein Tavern from 1489. The castle was built in 1845 and most of the brewery and castle was destroyed during 2nd world war. The brwery is today ran as the same company that founded in 1938, Schlossbrauerei Stein Wiskott GmbH & Co.

The brewery Meckatzer Löwenbräu goes back to 1738, the brewery was originally just named Löwenbräu but have to give up the name in the start of the 1900 hundred to the Munich brewery Brauerei Löwenbräu. Since 1853 the brewery has been owned by the Weiß family and today it is run by the 4th generation Michael Weiß.

Flötzinger brewery has roots back to 1543 in Rosenheim, Germany. The brewery sufferede great damages during many wars and plagues. In 1710 the brewery was owned by Georg Fletzinger from Ramerberg, Germany. Fletzinger is the name behind the Flötzinger brewery as it is known today. In 1864 the brewery is sold to Franz Steegmüller II and is to this day a private brewery owned and operated by the Steegmüller family.

Head is gone almost as fast as the beer is poured into the glass.

Medium strength sweet fruit aroma.

Big CO2 content, mostly wheat in the taste, not so sweet, slightly bitter in the after taste.

Hofbräuhaus Traunstein was founded in Traunstein, Germany in the year of 1612 by the Elector of Bavaria, Maximilian I. The brewery was bought by Josef Sailer in 1896. In 1982 brewery Traunstein becomes the first brewery in the world to offer draught weissbier. The brwery is still owned and operated by the Sailer family.

Fun fact, in 1704 and 1851 buckets of beer was used to put out two large city fires in Traunstein.

Gigantic head with a fine foam on the top but a rough structure underneath. Stays on the beer for a long while.

Medium wheat notes in the aroma with a sweet hint.

Good CO2 balance, creamy wheat notes and a fresh fruit taste. After taste is good and ends in a bit of hops.

Unfiltered beer with a beautiful and light yellow colour.

Large head with a rough structure, a little bit of fine foam on the top.

Medium strength aroma that has a real delicious sweet fruit to it.

Good CO2, fresh, sweet and very well composed with going into a slightly bitter hops at the end. Ceramic cap is not seen that often on exported beer, might be because it is bought from a Bavarian webshop. A pleasure to drink!
