To Øl – Dry Hopped Hefeweizen

To Øl used to be two friends, working as nomad brewers, travelling from brewery to brewery. This was the case in 2014, where I drank their Cloud 9 beer. In 2019 they bought an old ketchup factory in the Western part of Zealand, Denmark. It is a massive complex of 150.000 m2 ground with 26.600 m2 buildings on it. They have set up a full-blown specially designed brewery for their own production and will also host other brewers in their craft beverage hub.

I was gifted this beer from family members, at my birthday, hence price of this 440 ml canned beer at 5.4% alcohol, is unknown.

To Øl is brewed in Svinninge, Denmark.

Thick and very hazy yellow to orange in the color.

Large head with a medium sized foam, seems very CO2 active when poured into the glass.

Aroma comes off very powerful from the hops, very fruity and especially with citrus notes. Balances well with the wheat fruit notes.

Lots of CO2, then a very surprising floral domination in start of the taste, which quickly shifts to citrus notes and bitterness.

Very rare and tangent to weird experience. The aroma was promising, but the mix of hard floral hops and hefeweizen is simply too extreme for me.
