Frankfurter Brauhaus – Turmbräu Weissbier

Frankfurter Brauhaus is a fairly young brewery, it was founded in 1988 in Frankfurt, Germany.

I bought this 500 ml canned beer, at 5.4% alcohol level, for the price of 0.55 Euro. It was found in a local supermarket on the island of Rügen, Germany.

Good looking yellow to orange in the color. Unfiltered and hazy.

Nice big white head with a fine foam on top.

Aroma is a blend of wheat, sweet fruits and tad bit of something off-balanced.

Low CO2, which gives it a bit of flatness. Not so full-bodied in the taste, some great wheat notes, but the overall balance between wheat, sweetness and hops is not there. It is refreshing, but the same off-balanced feeling from the aroma, is also present in the taste.

Overall rating 70 / 100

Störterbeker – Bernstein-Weizen #2

Störtebeker brewery was founded in 1862 in Stralsund, Germany. The first big expansion of the brewery was in 1899 where the building now had brewing going on on multiply stocks.

I first tried this beer back in 2013, where alcohol level was 5.2%. Otherwise I can not tell if there was much difference. Back then it was an exported to Sweden beer, this time I bought it on the island of Rügen, Germany, where Stralsund is the port city entrance to the island. I bought this beer in a local supermarket in Bergen Auf Rügen, Germany at the price of 1.09 Euro for a 500 ml glass bottle at 5.3% alcohol.

Beautiful orange heavy hazy color. Lots of fine sediment in the bottom of the bottle, to swirl out.

Medium sized head with a very fine foam on top.

Aroma comes off with a good wheat and fruit mixture. Spiced and sweet notes.

Good CO2 content, delicious fruit with a balanced sweetness to it. Nice and light in the after taste.

Rügener Insel-Brauerei – Hiddenseer Weizen

Rügener Insel-Brauerei is a hand crafted beer brwery located on the island of Rügen in Germany. The brewery was founded by Markus in 2015. Markus is a trained brewer, from having studied at Weihenstephaner.

I bought this Weissbier in a 500 ml glass bottle, with a alcohol content of 5.6%, in a local supermarket on the island Rügen, Germany. Price was 1.09 Euro per bottle.

The beer is fermented in open containers, exposed to sea air. The process is finished while in the bottle where the beer is matured.

Beautiful and hazy yellow color.

Very fine foam on top of the head. Head stays while drinking the beer.

Aroma comes off with sweet fruits and scent notes of banana.

Powerful CO2 level, light and fruitful in the taste. Refreshing and yet with a great balance. After taste is full of banana notes and slight bitterness.

Overall rating 78 / 100

Perlenbacher – Hefe Weissbier

Perlenbacher is a brand of the supermarket Lidl. It is brewed by Frankfurter Brauerei.

I bought this weissbier from a German supermarket, on the island of Rügen. The price for this 500 ml plastic bottled beer, at 5,5% alcohol was 0.45 Euro.

Beautiful yellow and orange in the color. A nice little head, coarse foam that dissipates quickly.

Aroma comes off with a sweet scent, a tiny bit of wheated fruit notes to it. Some bitterness from hops, makes it seem a bit off.

Low CO2 level, sweet, but very thin and watery. After taste is a weird feeling of eating flour and yeast.

Overall experience is not great. Simply too low quality beer. Plastic bottles are not suitable for beer. Feels like this beer had been opened for a day in the fridge.
