Allgäuer brewery was founded in 1911 and has its roots in three breweries going together to become one large. It started in 1888 with the initial process to put together the Aktienbrauerei Kempten, the Bürgerliche Brauhaus and the Grünbaumbrauerei.
Through various owners, the brewery is since 2003 owned ~90% by the Dr. Oetker group and in 2004 the brewery in Kempten, Germany was closed down and all brewing of Allgäuer was moved to Leuterschach, Germany where a new 8 million Euro brewery was built.
I bought this weissbier from a German webshop in Bayern as a part of a large lot, single price came down to 1,49 Euro for a 500 ml bottle at 5,3%
Beautiful yellow going to orange colour, really has a inviting glow to it.
Big head with a rough structure and fine foam top.
Fresh and delicious fruit aroma, a good balance of the sweet and hoppy. It comes off with a medium strength.
Really good CO2 level that balances so well with a full bodied fruit taste, wheat plays into the finish and this just comes forward a very well-balanced beer. After taste of sweet fruit and wheat.
