Arcobräu – Weissbier Hell

GS6A8219

First recorded reference to the Schlossbrauerei Moos relates to the handover from Stephan Trainer to his son-in-law Johann Albrecht von Preysing in 1567. In 1619 a large fire destroys the brewery, agricultural buildings and castle. Restoration by Count Warmund von Preysing starts with the brewery and the agricultural buildings. In 1789 Johann Kaspar I Count of Preysing combines the breweries Aholming and Moos. He creates the foundation of today’s brewery from the stones.

The first experiments to create Weissbier are made in 1826. In 1887 Konrad Count of Preysing introduces mechanical processes into the brewery. After the death of Count Kaspar von Preysing in 1940, his sister Maria Theresia Countess von und zu Arco-Zinnenberg succeeds him. Count Ulrich Philip von und zu Arco-Zinneberg combines all breweries owned by the Count’s family under the name of Arcobräu. The so-called Schlossbrauerei Moos becomes the headquarters in 1960. In 1992 several breweries in Schwandorf, Straubing and in the Bäder triangle are incorporated into Arcobräu over the years which leading to an expansion of the distribution area.

Hofbräu München – Münchner Weisse

GS6A8202

The Hofbräuhaus am Platzl, Munich’s famous “hofbrauhaus”, was founded in 1589 by the Duke of Bavaria, Wilhelm V. It was originally founded as the brewery to the old Royal Residence, which at that time was situated just around the corner from where the beer hall stands today in Germany. Maximilian I, Wilhelm’s son and heir, did not care much for the popular Braunbier, which was the dark and heavy brown beer. So, in the beginning of the 17th century Maximilian I turned the brewery’s focus onto wheat beers and forbade all other private breweries to brew wheat beer thus creating a monopoly.
