Fanø Lynghvede

GS6A3294

Fanø brewery is located on the small island Fanø just outside of Esbjerg, Denmark. The brewery was founded in 2006 from 3500 people putting money together to open a brewery on the island, at this time there is about 150 small breweries in Denmark and they have to close the brewery down in December 2008, competition was too hard.

The brewery was bought by an investment company in 2009, a different tactic and a lot of hard to work to sell the beer local have made the brewery sustainable in business.

I bought this Erica wheat beer at Hjerting Hotel in Hjerting, some 10 kilometers north of Esbjerg, Denmark at the price of 4,5 Euro for a 500ml bottle at 5%.

The colour is yellow and unfiltered hazy.

A small white head that settles fast to almost nothing.

Fruity aroma with a hint of honey and Erica.

Low CO2, weak sweet fruit, easy to drink, some hint of Erica and honey. This wheat beer tries to add some local and different to the wheat genre with the added honey and Erica, but the match is not there for me.

I bought this wheat beer, brewed as a weissbier as it says, in a local supermarket in Oslo, Norway at the price of ? Euro for a 500 ml can at 4,6%.

Light yellow and not very unfiltered, a haze at most.

Head is rough and quickly disperses into a thin layer.

Aroma is good, sweet and fruity.

CO2 is good, but the taste is too weak and watery, after taste is more to the hops side than a fruit.

White Dog

GS6A2384Tou brewery in Stavanger, Norway was closed in 2003 and as a reaction Lervig aktiebryggeri was founded to still have a brewery in Stavanger. The beer was at first made by another brewery before the brewery got their own production in 2005.

I bought this beer in a local beer shop in Oslo, Norway at the price of 3,2 Euro for a 330ml bottle at 4,7%

Very light yellow almost with white tones in the colour.

A head of fine bubbles that stay.

A light fruit aroma.

Bubbly and fresh, weak in the taste with no bitterness or notes. It is too light in the taste and can seem watery. Poetry and a nice looking label.

Haandbryggeriet – Bavaria

I bought this bottle of re-fermented, unfiltered and non pasteurized beer in a local supermarket in Lillestrøm, Norway at a price of 6 Euro for a 500 ml bottle at 4,5%

Light yellow unfiltered beer.

Head starts out big and settles down to a thin layer.

Aroma is fresh and with a hint of bitter fruit.

Good CO2 with the same slightly bitter fruit from the aroma in the taste with a good sweetness along it, after taste dominated by the bitterness over the fruit.

It is a wheat beer called Bavaria and thus I look upon it as weissbier. Price is on the expensive side.

Bryggerigården – Mørk hvede

GS6A2019

Bryggerigården was founded in 2007 and is a micro brewery located in Vejle, Denmark.

I bought this beer in a local supermarket in Denmark at 1,5 Euro for a 500 ml bottle at 5,1%.

A brown colour with a bit of orange glow to the bottom with enough light.

A big rough head settles to fine layer after a minute.

The aroma is faint fruit with a hint of caramel.

Taste comes off with a good CO2, a fruit that makes more of itself in the after taste than at first, but still a little too anonymous, not much darkness to the taste. Too watery.

Svaneke Blonde

GS6A0822

Svaneke brewery is located in Svaneke on the island Bornholm in Denmark. The micro brewery was founded in 2000.

I bought this beer at a local supermarket at the price of 1,1 Euro for a 500ml bottle at ?%.

A solid unfiltered look, light will not pass easily and you get the feeling this should be served with a knife and a fork..

The head is small and a fine structure of fine bubbles lasts throughout drinking the beer.

Aroma comes off with a strong wheat, no fruit to it. A lovely bubbly CO2 and a good wheat finish. Despite the large amount of residue in this beer which could properly save you from eating a meal, it is a good wheat beer.
