I bought this christmas wheat beer at the supermarket Brugsen in Odense, Denmark at the price of 6 Euro for a 500 ml bottle at 5,1%.

Hazy yellow beer with large pieces of sediment at the bottom, so take care when pouring it into a glass.

Medium white head, very fine bubbles and it lasts for the duration of the beer.

Sweet fruit and a light bitter flowery aroma.

Low CO2 with a distinct taste of wheat, very little darkness minded sweetness that ends up in the after taste with a hint of flowers.

Indslev Bryggeri – Frederiks Jul

GS6A6009

Indslev brewery was established in 1897 by Frederik Christian Rasmussen. At some point the brewery was closed down, but in 2005 restored to former glory with brand new production equipment. The re-opening was made possible by Anders Busse Rasmussen, grand grand nephew of Frederik Christian Rasmussen.

I bought this beer in a the super market Brugsen in Odense, Denmark at the price of 3 Euro for a 500ml bottle at 6,5%.

Red with brown tones in this unfiltered beer with a good look to it.

Large and rough head with a lid of fine bubbles.

Weak fruit and a dominating bitter flowery scent from the hops.

Okay CO2, bitter fruit, some darkness, a hard flowery taste with even more bitterness in the end. A little too bitter for me with a sweet taste to play in. The label promised darkness and notes of tropical fruits, I do not think they made it all the way to the goal.

Ørbæk – Fynsk forår

GS6A4933

Ørbæk brewery was founded in 1906 by the Madsen family in Ørbæk, Denmark. The brewery remained on family hands for 3 generations. At the end of the 1970’s the brewery was sold and had many different owners up until the start of the 1990’s where it closed for good. The brewery had a capacity of 20 HL.

Niels and Nicolai Rømer bought the old brewery with all original equipment in 1996, restoration was needed on both buildings and machines. In 2005 they built a new brew house with a capacity of 6o HL.

Ørbæk brewery produces a wide range of biodynamic products, it is delightful to see people dedicated to make a good natural product.

I was given this biodynamic wheat beer, it can be bought in supermarkets in Denmark. It comes in a 500ml bottle at 4,8%.

Yellow and unfiltered and light yellow in the bottom.

Low head that disappears very fast.

Good sweet fruit and bitter hoppy aroma with a hint of flowers to it.

Good CO2, fresh flowers, sweet fruit and a long after taste with the flowers in it. A good combination and biodynamic beers deserves that extra credit.

Dark red, rosa and brown in the colour.

A low head that disappears into a thin layer.

Sour berries aroma with a hint of hops.

Dead CO2, the taste of forest berries is nauseating and lasts for what seems way too long and the hint of beer in the taste does nothing good for the combination.

Fanø Imperial Lynghvede

GS6A3099

Fanø brewery is located on the small island Fanø just outside of Esbjerg, Denmark. The brewery was founded in 2006 from 3500 people putting money together to open a brewery on the island, at this time there is about 150 small breweries in Denmark and they have to close the brewery down in December 2008, competition was too hard.

The brewery was bought by an investment company in 2009, a different tactic and a lot of hard to work to sell the beer local have made the brewery sustainable in business.

I bought this strong Erica wheat beer at Hjerting Hotel in Hjerting, some 10 kilometers north of Esbjerg, Denmark at the price of 4,5 Euro for a 330ml bottle at 10,2%.

There is a heavy sediment, so take care when pouring.

The colour is a lovely yellow with orange to it and unfiltered hazy.

There is no head but a little at the sides.

Sweet overdose aroma with a hint of honey and a strong alcohol.

Heavy. Like glue. Hides is high alcohol percentage very well, reminds me of mead beer. This was really over the top and too much for me, could not finish the beer.
