Wieninger – Hefe Weissbier

Old texts mention, that beer was brewed in the 1600’s by the father of, Tobias Schaidinger who in 1656 built a new brewery in Teisendorf, Germany. This brewery was bought by Philipp Wieninger in 1813. The brewery is today driven by Christian Wieninger who is the 8th generation of the brewing family.

I bought this weissbier from a German webshop in Bayern as a part of a large lot, single price came down to
1,49 Euro for a 500 ml bottle at 4,9%

Orange and yellow coloured unfiltered beer.

Medium sized head that quickly disperses into nothing.

Good sweet fruit aroma that is dominated by the wheat.

Powerful CO2 with a thick wheat taste, finishes in a matured banana note.

Overall rating 76 / 100

Hopf – Dunkle weisse

The weissbier brewery Miesbach was founded in 1892 and the Hopf family acquired it in 1921. The brewery was upgraded in 1950 and since 1975 to today, the production have risen from 3000 to 45000 hl. The brewery employs 23 people.

I bought this dunkel weissbier from a German webshop in Bayern as a part of a large lot, single price came down
to 1,49 Euro for a 500 ml bottle at 5,3%

Deep and brown colour, with so much sediment that is beyond just being described as unfiltered in its content.

Big head.

Light fruit aroma with a hint of dark malt.

Violent CO2 opens up for this sweet fruit taste, good balance with a dark, pleasant and soft wheat in the after
taste.

Schlossbrauerei Stein – Dunkel Weissbier

The first mentions of this brewery is the Stein Tavern from 1489. The castle was built in 1845 and most of the brewery and castle was destroyed during 2nd world war. The brwery is today ran as the same company that founded in 1938, Schlossbrauerei Stein Wiskott GmbH & Co.

I bought this organic dunkel weissbier from a German webshop in Bayern as a part of a large lot, single price came down to 1,49 Euro for a 500 ml bottle at 4,9%

Beautiful brown colour with red and orange play to it.

Medium sized head that has some colour from the dark beer, super fine foam on the top.

Light fruit aroma with a dominant wheat scent.

Good CO2 that balances well with the dark and sweet fruit, finishes in a pleasent fading after taste and has just a slight bitterness in the end. The beer being organic is a plus as always.

Løkken Bryghus – Badehus – Witbier

Løkken brewery dates back to 1867 where the brewer Anders Christian Andersen bought a old shipping warehouse in Løkken, Denmark. Løkken Bbrewery is today a micro brewery and has a yearly production of 700 hl. beer after their own recipes.

I bought this witbier on a 330 ml bottle at 4,6% from a wine shop in Odense, Denmark at the price of 2,5 Euro.

Yellow in the colour with a somewhat grey porridge tone to it.

No head or foam worth mentioning.

A anonymous aroma and almost too light to notice.

The flat CO2 with a dominating wheat in the taste is only slightly broken up with a minimal flower note, finishes with a slight bitterness.

Mongozo Buckwheat White Beer

Huyghe Brewery is a brewery founded in 1906 by Leon Huyghe in city of Melle in East Flanders, Belgium. They have a product line called Mongozo.

I bought this organic, gluten free, fair trade white wheat beer in a 330 ml bottle at 4,8%, at a wine shop at the price of 4 Euro.

Yellow in the colour with a white touch to it.

Medium sized head with a fine structure and top.

Flowers and fruit comes off in a good composition in the aroma, suitable in strength, the flowery part is not dominant over the fruit.

Drinking and tasting starts with a relatively flat CO2, a somewhat confused impression from the flower, wheat and hops composition. One of the few things that drags this beer in the right direction is it being organic.

Wieninger Hefe Weissbier Dunkel

Old texts mention, that beer was brewed in the 1600’s by the father of, Tobias Schaidinger who in 1656 built a new brewery in Teisendorf, Germany. This brewery was bought by Philipp Wieninger in 1813. The brewery is today driven by Christian Wieninger who is the 8th generation of the brewing family.

I bought this dunkel weissbier on a 500 ml bottle at 5,2% from a German webshop located in Bayern. The price was 1,49 Euro.

A deep brown colour with a very dark orange tone in the bottom of the glass.

Grand big head with a rough structure, a very fine foam on the top.

The aroma comes off with a good sweet fruit with a medium strength.

When drinking the beer it immediately welcomes with a good CO2 content, delicious fruit with a weak wheat twist to it, but unfortunately it ends very fast and is too gentle in its taste expression.

Baladin – Isaac

The bar La Baladin opens in Piozzo, Italy in 1986, at 1996 it has its own brewing equipment and becomes a brewpub. It was founded by master brewer Teo Musso.

I received this beer as a gift, it was bought at a beer shop in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is a  corked and varnished 750 ml bottle at 5%.

Beautiful beer, yellow going to orange in the colour.

A small head that disappears quickly.

Light and fresh aroma with a weak fruit over it. A good and sweet scent.

Good CO2 level, delicious fruit in the taste, good balance between sweet and acid notes. Sweetness and hops go hand in hand. Soft, velvet and pleasant after taste. Fades very nice.

Volkan Santorini White

Volkan beer brewery is located on the island Naxos in the city of Santorini, Greece. What is special about the Volkan beer is that the water is filtered in a unique Santorini basalt filter unit which consists of volcano lava stones, Santorini honey and citrus from Naxos.

I received this beer as a gift, it was bought at a beer shop in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is a  330 ml bottle at 5%.

Beautiful and thick flowing yellow going to orange beer.

A small head with a fine top but else a rather rough structure.

Suitable aroma, fruity and sweet, but with a dominating flowery scent to it. Slightly spiced.

Low CO2, a very sweet beer, it is infact extremely sweet, sugary and it is just too much, not a pleasant drink. Its use of honey in the brewing process is not a hit with me. Tastes like a 8-10% beer trying to hide its alcohol with honey.

Kaiserdom Hefe-Weissbier Alkoholfreies

This wheat beer comes from the private owned brewery located at Bamberg in the northern Bayern.

Kaiserdom have been making beer here since 1718, which for a Bayern brewery could be described as being one of the younger breweries.

I found this beer at a local supermarket in Denmark at the very reasonable price of 2 Euro for a 500 ml can at 0%.

A thick flowing orange beer, impossible to see through from the heavy amount of sediment.

There is little to no head on this beer, not even a little persuasion at pouring can make it have one.

A good, but light, fruity aroma.

Flat CO2, taste is okay, a good blend of wheat and fruit notes, too thin in the after taste.

Brewery Dupont – blanche du Hainaut

Brewery Dupont originates back to 1920 where Louis Dupont was given the old farm-brewery Rimaux-Deridder dating back from 1759, from his father Alfred Dupont. Louis had not children and his nephew Sylva Rosier. Sylva’s son Marc Rosier managed the brewery from 1964 to 2002. Since 2002, Olivier Dedeycker has succeeded his uncle Marc Rosier as the Director of the family brewery and therefore represents the fourth generation of this brewers’ family.

I got this unfiltered wheat beer as a gift, it was bought in a beer shop in Copenhagen, I do not know the price for this 250 ml bottle at 5,5%.

Light yellow colour and only slightly hazy, not a beer large enough to be served in a weissbier glass.

Medium head with a rough structure but a fine foam on top.

Good fresh and  fruity in the aroma, with a good scent of banana to it.

Powerful CO2, good fruit, fresh, wheat and some banana in the delicate, not to powerful taste. A good and fresh wheat beer. Bonus points for being organic / biodynamic.
