Bøllingsø Bryghus was founded 11th June 2009 by Jørn Andersen, Steen Madsen, Lars Mogensen og Tom Pedersen. It is run as locally funded brewery through shares sold to people living in Engesvang, Denmark and about.

I bought this beer at the Salling store in Aarhus, Denmark at the price of 5,5 Euro for a 500 ml bottle at 5,0%.

Light yellow and hazy unfiltered look to this beer.

A head that disappears just as fast as you can pour the beer into the glass.

Fresh flowers and a sweet fruit in the aroma.

Good CO2, delicious sweet fruit taste and very sweet in the after taste, a little peak of hops.

Overall rating 81 / 100

Skagen Bryghus – Nordlys

I bought this beer at the Salling store in Aarhus, Denmark at the price of 4,5 Euro for a 500 ml bottle at 5,0%.

This colour of this unfiltered beer is a thick and hazy yellow.

Medium sized head with a fine top, it disperses into a thin layer.

Fresh, sweet and sourish aroma with a medium strength.

Low CO2, sweet fruit that just keeps going, fresh and heavy wheat in the taste.

Midtfyns – Holm – Wheat Christmas

GS6A9060

Midtfyns brew house was founded in 2004 in Årslev, Denmark. It is a micro brewery that started out brewing beer on license from Scotland but since 2006 they have used their own recipes and develop their own new beers.

I bought this beer in a local super market called Kvickly in Odense, Denmark at the price of 6 Euro for a 500 ml bottle at 5,6%. Top of label is unfortunately missing.

A fine looking yellow that is thick and hazy.

Exploding right from the opening, the glass had to be put in place at lightning speed not to spill it. Gigantic head with a fine top.

Powerful fruit with good sweetness in the aroma. Slightly bitter from the hops but very inviting.

Heavy CO2 and a good balance between fruit and hops, spiced notes and after taste is dominated by the hops. A good wheat beer that certainly makes one think of a good wit.

Indslev bryggeri – Sort hvede

GS6A8201

Indslev brewery was established in 1897 by Frederik Christian Rasmussen. At some point the brewery was closed down, but in 2005 restored to former glory with brand new production equipment. The re-opening was made possible by Anders Busse Rasmussen, grand grand nephew of Frederik Christian Rasmussen.

A medium head that is brown and it is gone in about 30 seconds.

Totally and completely black in the colour.

The aroma is dominated by dark caramel with hints of fruit and wheat.

Low CO2, it has a burned, dark and long lasting sweet, but flat, dark fruit in the taste. Simply too dark and thick.

Brown and amber in the colour, large pieces of sediment floats around this unfiltered beer.

Small head.

Heavy caramel and sweetness dominates the aroma.

Light in the taste, dark, good CO2, more caramel and lack of wheat in the taste.

Munkebo mikrobryg – Hejmdal coconut wheat ale

GS6A6721

Munkebo mikrobryg is a micro brewery with a capacity of 13.5 hectolitre. Located in Munkebo, Denmark and was founded in 2013.

I bought this wheat ale in Vinens Verden in Odense, Denmark at the price of 4,5 Euro for a 330 ml bottle at 5,2%.

Beautiful orange colour to this unfiltered beer and really thick flowing.

Medium head with super fine bubbles.

Very hoppy aroma with a weak hint of fruit.

Low CO2, hops, sweet toned with a bitter bite. Wheat and coconut does not quite get out as much as it could and maybe should to live up to the title.

Slotbryggeriet Gavnø – Hvedeøl

GS6A6967

Slotsbryggeriet Gavnø is located on the castle of Gavnø, Denmark. The castle dates back to the 1800’s and the brewery is in on of the old breeding stables. Brewer Mogens Damm runs the daily production and the brewery is owned by Baroness Helle Reedtz-Thott.

They use ingredients from their own production and water from their own natural spring.

I bought this unfiltered wheat beer from the supermarket Irma in Copenhagen, Denmark at the price of 4 Euro for a 500ml bottle at 4,9%.

A very beautiful, thick and very hazy orange colour.

A great big head.

Sweet and lovely fruit aroma but with a hint of something weird.

Medium CO2, sweet and hoppy. A weird taste that does not belong in a beer comes through after a few seconds. I had to throw the beer out, it was like it was contaminated.

I took contact to the brewery and offered them to send in a sample for examination, they refused with the argumentation that their control is good and there was no chance of a contaminated bottle leaving the factory. With my experience from the food and brewery industry, I can only say that it is a arrogant approach to food safety.

Herslev Bryghus – Hvedeøl

GS6A6951

Tore Jørgensen founded Herslev Bryghus in 2004 in the buildings belonging to the old farm Toftegaard in Herslev, Denmark. He has been involved in wine production and micro breweries since 1998.

I bought this unfiltered organic wheat beer from the supermarket Irma in Copenhagen, Denmark at the price of 4 Euro for a 500ml bottle at 5%.

Orange and yellow in colour and a regular unfiltered haziness.

No head at all, any foam disperses instantly.

Delicious and sweet fruit aroma, a real inviting pleasure.

A lot of CO2, a very active beer, good full bodied fruit taste and only a slight wheat and bitterness to the after taste. A very good organic wheat beer!

Indslev bryggeri – Frederiks Påske

GS6A6497

Indslev brewery was established in 1897 by Frederik Christian Rasmussen. I bought this beer in a local super market in Odense, Denmark at the price of 4 Euro for a 500ml bottle at 5,5%.

Shining yellow colour with a white bottom.

White medium head with a fine bubbles on top.

Flowery aroma with a deep sweetness.

Good CO2, hoppy, flowery, fresh, sweet wheat. Spring in a bottle with maybe a tad too much bitterness.

Overall rating 80 /100

Gundestrup – Æble-hvede øl

GS6A6438

Gundestrup dairy and brewery is located in Gundestrup, Fyn, Denmark. Gundestrup dairy was founded in 1888 and operated as a cooperative movement dairy up until 1983. In 2007 it was decided by the owner Jørgen Hoff that beer should also be brewed at the dairy.

I bought this apple wheat beer on a 500 ml bottle 5,5% at the price of 6 Euro in a cheese shop in Odense, Denmark.

Yellow to orange hazy beer with a thick flowing feel to it.

Great big head with a massive foam and fine bubbles.

Aroma comes off with a hoppy sweet fruit and a tickle of apples.

Low CO2, hoppy, light bitterness and a little sweetness in the after taste. The idea of adding 20% apple raw juice to the brew works well compared to other beers with added fruit juices, but its wheat part is underplayed and comes off a little too hoppy.
